What is Coaching?

Coaching is a partnership focused on clarity, agency, and intentional action. While therapy often looks backward to heal the past, coaching looks at the present and the future to design the life you actually want to live. It is not about giving advice or telling you what to do—it is about creating a space where you can separate external expectations from internal truth.

The Transformative Power of Choice

Most of us are walking around following scripts we didn't write—scripts about how to work, how to love, and how to be a person in the world. Coaching helps you notice those scripts. Once you see them, you can decide which ones are serving you and which ones are ready to be rewritten.

In our work together, we focus on the transition from inherited narratives to intentional choices. We examine your values, your needs, and your boundaries to build a structure that actually fits your life. Whether you are navigating a career pivot, a relationship change, or a deeper internal transformation, coaching provides the container for that evolution.

This is a space of radical honesty and nonjudgment. It is where you stop performing and start choosing. It is the work of making your life your own.

What’s Different at What Fits Coaching?

A Nonjudgmental Space for Brave Lives
Clients in complex or nontraditional relationships or family structures often spend a great deal of time explaining themselves. In this coaching space, they do not have to start by proving that their lives are valid. They can begin with what they want, what feels hard, what feels possible, and what they are ready to choose.

A Trained Systems Lens
My background in Cultural Anthropology, Women’s Studies, education, and health policy helps me understand that personal experiences do not happen in a vacuum. People’s choices are shaped by culture, power, institutions, norms, family expectations, and social scripts. I help clients notice those forces without losing sight of their own agency.

A Values-and-Agency Lens
A central question in this work is: “What do I actually want?” I support clients as they separate obligation, fear, performance, and respectability from values, desire, integrity, and choice.

A Communication and Consent lens
My background in human identity and relationships supports coaching around boundaries, negotiation, repair, honesty, and relational decision-making. I help clients think about what they need, what they can offer, what they are willing to negotiate, and what must be clearly named.

A Transition Lens
Career change, relationship restructuring, identity shifts, leadership transitions, and major life pivots all involve grief, uncertainty, agency, and reorientation. These moments can be disorienting, but they can also become powerful opportunities to build a life that is more honest and sustainable.

A High-Functioning Professional Lens
As a former executive and working parent, I understand ambition, leadership, pressure, burnout, institutional dynamics, and the complexity of being outwardly successful while privately re-evaluating what you want. I can support clients who are navigating both professional responsibility and personal transformation.
